Expectations of TAGDev 2.0

Strengthening Practical and Entrepreneurial Training

UoE is expected to embed experiential and entrepreneurial learning in its agricultural and related programs. This involves offering hands-on training, industrial attachments, and mentorship to equip students with practical skills for agribusiness creation and employment.

Promoting Community Engagement and Outreach

TAGDev 2.0 expects UoE to extend its academic and research efforts to rural communities, working directly with farmers, youth, and women’s groups. The university should implement community-based learning models that apply classroom knowledge to real-life agricultural problems.

Enhancing Access and Inclusivity

UoE is expected to increase opportunities for marginalized groups, particularly rural youth and women, by offering scholarships, mentorship, and inclusive learning environments that promote equal participation in agricultural education.

Strengthening Institutional Capacity and Governance

The university is expected to improve its internal systems and leadership structures to deliver effective training, research, and community engagement. This includes enhancing digital infrastructure, staff development, and accountability mechanisms.

Supporting Research and Innovation for Development

UoE is to encourage applied research that addresses agricultural productivity, sustainability, and food security challenges. Faculty and students should work together to generate innovations that can be adopted by farmers and agribusinesses.

Fostering Agribusiness and Startup Development

Through its incubation and innovation hubs, UoE is expected to nurture student-led agribusiness enterprises, providing them with mentorship, financial literacy training, and market linkages to enhance sustainability and scalability.

Contributing to Policy and Knowledge Sharing

The University of Eldoret is expected to influence local and national agricultural policy by producing policy briefs, participating in policy dialogues, and sharing success stories and lessons learned from TAGDev 2.0 initiatives.

Building Strategic Partnerships and Networks

UoE should strengthen collaborations with government agencies, private sector players, NGOs, and other universities to expand the impact of TAGDev 2.0 and ensure that innovations reach farmers and youth entrepreneurs effectively.
