
The University of Eldoret (UoE) team was in attendance throughout last week’s intensive pre-AGM workshops held in Gaborone, Botswana, gaining valuable skills and insights to enhance leadership, research, innovation, and program implementation under TAGDev 2.0.
The sessions brought together universities, TVETs, principals, deans, researchers, and development partners from across the RUFORUM network, creating a rich space for peer learning, exchange, networking and collaborative growth.
UoE team participated in a wide range of high-impact courses, including:
Leadership development for mid and senior university managers, strengthening institutional governance, decision-making, and strategic leadership this having the Deans from Schools of Agriculture, Principals, Coordinators

Monitoring evaluation and learning Impact and strategic communication training, enhancing the team’s ability to measure results, document evidence, and communicate impact more effectively.
Finance and financial management for higher education collaboratives, improving skills in financial oversight, accountability, and resource stewardship.
Gender, inclusion & safeguarding workshop, reinforcing UoE’s commitment to safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive learning environments, especially for TAGDev 2.0 implementing units.
Innovation transfer partners workshop, deepening understanding on transforming research ideas into scalable enterprises, supporting TVET innovators, and empowering out-of-school youth.
Impact of university research & technology transfer sessions, supported by field visits to BUAN farms, Safflower demonstrations, tree-planting activities, and climate-smart agriculture sites.
Green transitions and circular economy field visits, including solar energy systems, wastewater management for agriculture, and other sustainability practices.
Finally they visited BUAN Incuhive Business Incubator, learning from Botswana’s agribusiness youth, and alumni-led enterprise models.
Through these workshops, the University of Eldoret team gained strengthened capacity in leadership, Monitoring evaluation and learning (MEL), impact communication, financial management, innovation scaling, gender-responsive programming, and climate-smart agricultural technologies. The exposure enriched the university’s ability to deliver transformative education, support youth entrepreneurship, and enhance community-focused research.
As RUFORUM AGM 2025 continues, UoE stands better equipped with renewed knowledge, strengthened networks, and practical insights to drive institutional excellence and broaden the impact of TAGDev 2.0 in Kenya and beyond.
